AWAC values collaboration across writing-related organizations in ways that respect differences in local knowledge and practices. This committee is charged with articulating and formalizing connections between AWAC and the different WAC and other writing-related organizations as well as offering structural support. Connections may include co-sponsoring initiatives, inviting a member of the organization to serve on an AWAC committee, and collaborating with another organization on a white paper. Structural support may include housing a writing organization’s website (to create a stable URL for the group) or serving as the organizational home for a new initiative.
In the first year, this Committee is charged with reaching out to other WAC and writing-related organizations to discuss mutual goals and the kinds of organizational support or connections that would be mutually beneficial. These organizations include but are not limited to: IWCA, WAC Clearinghouse, SLAC-WPA, and the CCCC WAC Standing Group.
