Pamela (Farrell) Childers is Caldwell Chair of Composition Emerita from The McCallie School (TN), where she team taught a science seminar, created and directed the WAC program, writing center and the writing fellows program, and led cross-disciplinary independent study projects and faculty workshops. While a teacher of English at Red Bank Regional High School (NJ), she created a WAC-based writing center and wrote the award-winning The High School Writing Center: Establishing and Maintaining One. She has also served as an AP Language and Composition Table leader and has taught at Utah State University, SUNY – Purchase, and Lesley University. Pam currently serves as Executive Editor of The Clearing House, Editor of the WAC Clearinghouse Excellence in K-12 WAC Series, and consultant for secondary WAC programs internationally. She has served as president and board member of IWCA, consultant for the IWAC Network, and recipient of numerous scholarship, teaching, and service awards, including several NEH grants. She is also an active member/presenter at IWCA, NCTE, IWAC, and CCCC. Besides Programs and Practices: Writing Across the Secondary School Curriculum (with Gere and Young), ARTiculating: Teaching Writing in a Visual World (with Hobson and Mullin), and WAC Partnerships Between Secondary and Postsecondary Institutions (with Blumner), she has written hundreds of articles, columns, and chapters on WAC, writing centers, and WAC partnerships, including her doctoral dissertation on Creating a Model Writing Across the Curriculum Program for Secondary School Teachers. A lifelong learner, Pam is currently researching two WAC-related  projects. In addition to encouraging the growth and learning of her students, she enjoys supporting the professional growth of teachers, challenging them to think deeper about their craft.
